VA Loan Limits by County

The 2018 VA loan limit increased to $453,100 in 2018 from $424,100 except in 220 high cost counties where they are higher. This represents a 6.8% increase this year. For comparison there are 3,234 counties and county equivalents. The maximum conforming VA loan limits for mortgages acquired by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are determined by the The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

2018 VA Loan limits apply to all loans closed January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

These limits do apply to most military borrowers. These increased VA loan limits are intended to allow military borrowers in more expensive loan markets to borrow more without having to put any money down. In most markets the VA loan limit is $453,100.

2018 Loan Limits are effective January 1, 2018. 2017 Loan Limits are listed below the 2018 limits.
